Sierra Leone's Health Minister Meets with WHO Director-General

Geneva, Switzerland, Monday 23 May 2022 – The Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr Austin Demby, has met with the Director-General of the World Health Organizations, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on the margins of the Seventh - Fifth World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Health Minister during the engagements with the Member States and non-state actors continue to propagate the strives made by Sierra Leone to achieve equitable and universal health coverage, through quality primary health care with effective referral to quality secondary and tertiary care, delivering proven high impact interventions and addressing the major risk factors contributing to child survival, to the international partners.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is the 8th Director-General of the WHO and was re-elected for another five-year at the Seventh-fifth World Health Assembly in May 2022 (WHA75), following the nomination by the 150th session of the Executive Board in January.

Sierra Leone will always be grateful to the World Health Organization for their continued support and health interventions in the country, especially support toward COVID-19 and other health issues.
